Moscow law enforcement is investigating the death of 22-year-old Daria Khandogina, a young employee of a federal TV channel, whose body was found near her apartment building in late May. While authorities are considering suicide as a possible cause, Khandogina’s family and friends dispute this theory, pointing to deleted online activity, a lost phone recovered by a stranger, and unusual notes found on her phone.
Khandogina, originally from the Belgorod region, was described as a bright and kind person who loved life. Her relatives and acquaintances find it hard to believe that she would take her own life.
The circumstances surrounding Khandogina’s death have raised suspicions among her inner circle. Friends have reported strange messages from her prior to her death, and the deletion of her social media content has fueled speculation. Her father mentioned that she had lost her phone a week before her death and it was found by a man of Caucasian descent who spoke incoherently about a fight. He also stated that incomprehensible notes were found in her phone, and her messages on social networks were deleted.
Despite the family’s concerns, authorities have not treated the case as a potential crime. According to a source in emergency services, investigators are currently conducting an investigation into the fact of suicide.
