Russian Air Defense Intercepts 162 Drones Overnight

Russian air defense systems reportedly intercepted a total of 162 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) between 8:10 PM on June 1st and 2:00 AM on June 2nd. The Ministry of Defense released information detailing the regions where the drones were shot down.

The Kursk region experienced the highest number of interceptions, with 57 UAVs destroyed. Belgorod followed with 31, Lipetsk with 27, Voronezh with 16, Bryansk and Ryazan each with 11, Orel with six, Crimea with two, and the Tambov region with one.

In the Lipetsk region, one person sustained a minor injury in the Lebedyansky district due to falling debris. Governor Igor Artamonov confirmed that the injury was not life-threatening. In Lebedyan, two houses sustained damage to their windows from shrapnel when a UAV crashed. Affected families were temporarily relocated, with one family staying with relatives and the other accommodated in a hotel.

Authorities are actively working to clear the crash sites. Residents have been advised that they may hear explosions related to the removal of unexploded drone fragments.

Reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and fires have emerged from the Kursk, Voronezh, and Ryazan regions. Tragically, in the Belgorod region, one woman was killed and a girl was injured.
