Parents with three or more children may soon be eligible for an additional 14 days of paid leave annually, according to a bill set to be introduced in the State Duma. The proposed legislation, spearheaded by State Duma Deputy Sergey Mironov and Deputy Speaker Alexander Babakov, aims to provide greater support for large families.
The bill is scheduled for consideration on Monday, June 2nd.
The explanatory note accompanying the bill specifies that the additional leave would be available until the eldest child reaches the age of 18.
Under the proposed law, employees would be able to take the leave at a time that is convenient for them. They could also choose to combine it with their regular annual leave or use it separately, either in full or in segments, upon submitting a written request. The bill specifies that this additional leave cannot be carried over to the following year.
Mironov emphasized that the initiative is designed to ease the burdens faced by large families and help them balance work and childcare responsibilities.
Earlier proposals in the State Duma included the creation of children’s savings accounts, with an initial deposit of 100,000 rubles from the federal budget for each newborn.
