The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy has assured rice producers that water will be released immediately to facilitate sowing, following concerns about the start of the season. Minister Cvetan Tripunovski addressed the issue during a working meeting with farmers in Češinovo Obleševo, emphasizing the importance of meeting optimal sowing deadlines.

Tripunovski, along with the director of AD Vodostopanstvo, responsible for water distribution to rice fields, engaged directly with farmers to discuss irrigation challenges. The minister highlighted that the Administration for Hydrometeorological Affairs forecasts significant rainfall in the coming days, which is expected to improve the hydrological situation.

During the meeting, farmers requested that sandy and elevated areas not be used for rice cultivation. Tripunovski and the director of AD Vodostopanstvo agreed to coordinate the water release to ensure that all other areas are adequately covered.

The minister conveyed that the water release would commence immediately to adhere to the scientifically recommended sowing deadline of May 15th. Tripunovski expressed confidence that there would be no issues regarding water availability for flooding the fields and urged farmers to remain calm.
