The Macedonian government has paid approximately 130 million euros (around 8 billion denars) to farmers in outstanding and current subsidy payments. Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy, Cvetan Tripunovski, announced the payments, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting domestic agriculture.
Tripunovski stated that his administration inherited a “chaotic situation” characterized by an empty treasury, unpaid subsidies, and incomplete legal frameworks upon assuming office. Despite these challenges, the government has successfully disbursed the significant sum to farmers across various producer groups.
The minister highlighted that these payments demonstrate the government’s dedication to valuing the labor of Macedonian farmers through responsible and dedicated work. He also expressed confidence that these actions are restoring trust between farmers and government institutions.
Tripunovski, along with Prime Minister Mickoski, has worked over the past 10 months to demonstrate this commitment and plans to continue this support in the future.
