An eight-year-old child was attacked by a stray dog in Magnolia Square in Bitola. The incident resulted in a forehead injury to the child, requiring hospitalization.
The Municipality of Bitola expressed regret over the incident and confirmed that the child received medical attention at the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at the Clinical Hospital in Bitola. After treatment, the child was released home with prescribed therapy and medical recommendations.
The Mayor of Bitola, Toni Konjanovski, contacted the child’s parents and was informed that the child is feeling well but remains fearful after the attack. Konjanovski wished the child a speedy recovery and emphasized the municipality’s commitment to addressing the issue of stray dogs.
The Municipality of Bitola stated that the incident underscores the need for a systematic and long-term solution to the stray dog problem. The recently opened “Hachiko” shelter is considered an important step in establishing an organized approach. The municipality urged support for the shelter’s work, rather than discrediting it.
