Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska has stated that the river in Batintsi, Studenichani Municipality, has overflowed because the municipal authorities have failed to clean the canals, a responsibility they should be proactively addressing. Arsovska criticized outgoing mayor Orce Gjorgievski, stating he is only “taking pictures with fake heroism” and that “floods are prevented with prevention, not by playing savior for the problems that the mayor of the municipality himself allowed.”

According to Arsovska, the issue in Batintsi, stemming from the lack of canal maintenance, is now affecting Skopje.

The Fire Brigade of the City of Skopje and teams from PE Water Supply and Sewerage are reportedly working actively in the field to address the situation. Arsovska claims they are too busy working to take photographs.
