Shkendija Football Club Condemns Disruptive Behavior During Moment of Silence

Shkendija Football Club has responded to the unacceptable conduct of some fans during a moment of silence held to honor the victims of the Kochani tragedy at their recent match against Brera.

Prior to the start of the match in Tetovo, certain fans disrupted the moment of silence with singing and shouting.

Shkendija asserts that it fully supports and adheres to all institutional decisions concerning sensitive moments for society, and it emphasizes the deep sorrow felt by the club following the tragedy in Kochani, an event that deeply affected the entire nation and profoundly impacted daily life. This sentiment was felt during training sessions and at the match against AP Brera, where the team, despite their 2:1 victory and continued lead in the league, did not experience their usual post-match joy.

Shkendija respected the moment of silence called for by the Football Federation of Macedonia to honor the victims. However, a small group in the stands chose not to observe the silence, an action that does not reflect the values of the club or the broader fan base. The “Ballists,” typically located in the “Marshin Beqiri” stand behind the goal, were positioned in the central stand during the match. Of the estimated 3-4,000 spectators present, only around 20 individuals displayed this irresponsible behavior, which does not represent the feelings, solidarity, and respect of the majority of fans.

The “Ballists” are considered an integral part of Shkendija, but the actions of this small group do not represent the views of the larger fan group, which is currently undergoing reorganization, nor of the broader audience, who expressed their disapproval with whistles.

Shkendija has reiterated its regret regarding this situation and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to honoring the memory of those who lost their lives and acknowledging the pain felt throughout society.
