Football club Shkendija issued a statement apologizing for the behavior of some fans during a moment of silence for the victims from Kochani at the match against Brera. The club emphasized their respect for the victims and their families.
Shkendija stated they deeply experienced the tragedy in Kochani, which shocked the country. This feeling affected their daily lives and was present during training sessions. While they respect the Football Federation of Macedonia’s decision to hold a minute of silence, a group of individuals in the stands chose not to participate.
The club clarified that this behavior does not represent the club or the fan base. The “Ballists” fan group, usually located behind the goal, were situated in the central stand. Among the 3-4,000 spectators, only about 20 individuals acted irresponsibly. Shkendija noted that the “Ballists” are an important part of the club, but the actions of this small group do not reflect the attitude of the fan group, which is currently reorganizing, or the majority of fans who expressed their dissatisfaction with whistles.
Shkendija reiterated its commitment to respecting the lives lost and the pain felt by society.
