Firefighters across North Macedonia responded to multiple fires in the last 24 hours, successfully extinguishing seven open-air fires and other fires in populated areas. The Regional Crisis Management Centers (RCUK) reported the incidents and the prompt response of the Fire Protection Brigades (BPPZ) and Territorial Fire Protection Units (TPPE).
In Skopje, firefighters tackled three separate incidents. In the village of Marino (Ilinden Municipality), a low vegetation fire was extinguished by three firefighters and one fire engine between 5:25 PM and 6:30 PM. Later, from 9:00 PM to 12:05 AM, four firefighters and two fire engines put out a fire involving burning hay and branches on Maleshevska Street in Kisela Voda Municipality, which consumed 100 square meters. Early this morning, from 1:40 AM to 2:30 AM, two firefighters and one fire engine extinguished burning garbage in the village of Brnjarci (Gazi Baba Municipality).
In Kochani, two firefighters and one fire engine intervened to extinguish burning garbage in the yard of SOU “Gosho Vikentiev” between 3:00 PM and 3:45 PM.
The TPPE Shtip reported that four firefighters and one fire engine tackled a fire at the “Bargala” location in Karbinci Municipality from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, involving dry grass, low-stemmed forest, and bushes (spruce).
A larger operation took place in Ohrid, where 15 firefighters and three fire engines extinguished burning reeds along the Ohrid coastline from the Special Hospital “St. Erazmo” to the “Andon Dukov” camp, spreading towards the village of Podmolje in the Municipality of Ohrid between 6:30 PM and 9:40 PM.
In Kumanovo, two firefighters and one fire engine extinguished burning low vegetation in the “Stari Lozja” area between 7:50 PM and 8:30 PM.
The Crisis Management Center (CMC) urges citizens to report all emergency cases to the Single Emergency Call Number 112, especially in life-threatening situations. The CMC also advises the public to stay informed and follow recommendations from the media for prevention and response to emergencies.
