The search for an elderly person who went missing from the village of Stepanci in the Municipality of Shtip continues, despite extensive efforts involving dozens of people. The individual was last seen on Saturday, April 5th, and the disappearance was reported on April 7th.
Yesterday, a large-scale search operation mobilized approximately 70 to 80 people, including volunteers, members of various associations, and residents from neighboring villages. The Crisis Management Center (CUК) reported that the volunteers were divided into groups at a meeting point in the village of Lakavica to cover a larger area systematically. Several drones were deployed to search difficult-to-access areas, ravines, and the swollen Lakavica river.
The search efforts included the participation of 10 police officers, 10 scouts from the “EQUINOX – Shtip” Scout Detachment, hunters from the “Lovec” hunting association, volunteers from RCUK Shtip, and relatives of the missing person. Some groups from more distant villages conducted independent searches in their respective regions. Game wardens from the “Lakavica – Patrik” hunting ground were actively searching their territory and regularly reviewing video camera footage.
Despite the extensive search, the elderly person has not yet been found. The relatives of the missing person have expressed their gratitude to all those who have selflessly participated in or supported the search efforts.
