Following a fatal shooting near Bit Pazar, political tensions have risen as SDSM has called for the resignation of Interior Minister Panče Toškovski, citing a “collapse of the security system.” In response, VMRO-DPMNE defended the current security measures, asserting that the system is effectively combating crime, unlike during SDSM’s governance.
SDSM insists that citizen safety is severely compromised. They argue that the recent shooting, occurring in broad daylight and near a police station, demonstrates Toškovski’s failure to control security and highlights the weakness of the Ministry of Interior under his leadership. The party believes Toškovski’s resignation is the initial step toward restoring security in the streets and implementing necessary reforms.
VMRO-DPMNE countered these claims by stating that during SDSM’s time in power, the country became a haven for criminals and drug lords. They also stated that SDSM issued Macedonian passports to wanted criminals and members of ISIS during the governance of Oliver Spasovski. According to VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM’s attacks stem from the fact that criminals are now being held accountable under the current administration. The ruling party emphasizes that the law is being applied impartially, causing concern for SDSM.
