SDSM Criticizes Appointment of Petar Bogoeski as Head of National Agency

The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) has strongly criticized the appointment of Petar Bogoeski as the director of the National Agency for European Educational Programs and Mobility. According to SDSM, this decision is unacceptable due to Bogoeski’s past conduct.

Kristina Kostova, the vice-president of SDSM, stated that Bogoeski has a documented history of offensive, discriminatory behavior, and hate speech on public platforms. She described his comments as degrading, sexist, Albanophobic, and racist, emphasizing that such behavior is incompatible with any public position.

Kostova argued that Bogoeski’s behavior directly contradicts the values of respect, equality, and inclusiveness that underpin the European educational programs the Agency is meant to represent. She asserted that he is unfit to perform the duties of the position and cannot serve as a role model for students.

SDSM believes that this appointment reflects the priorities of the government led by Mickoski and DPME. The party contends that by appointing someone with a history of discrimination and hate speech to lead an agency dedicated to promoting unity and progress, the government is undermining the institution’s mission and hindering educational improvement.

Kostova emphasized that this appointment demonstrates the government’s disregard for fundamental European values and ethical standards, which she deems unacceptable for leaders in education and public service.

SDSM plans to formally notify the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission about this appointment. The party believes that the director of the National Agency for European Educational Programs and Mobility should embody the principles of respect, inclusiveness, and progress, rather than being someone perceived as a divisive figure known for anti-European sentiments.
