Saints Chrysanthus and Daria’s Conversion and Martyrdom

Saints Chrysanthus and Daria, along with others, suffered for their Christian faith in Rome during the reign of Emperor Numerian, facing torture and death for their beliefs.

Chrysanthus, the son of a nobleman, sought truth and converted to Christianity after reading the Gospels, later convincing his wife Daria to embrace the faith, and they lived as brother and sister.

Facing persecution, Chrysanthus and Daria endured torture and remained steadfast, even leading their tormentor Claudius and his household to convert, resulting in their martyrdoms.

Christians gathered in a cave to honor the martyrs, but pagans sealed the cave, causing the deaths of those inside, including priest Diodorus and deacon Marian.

Chrysanthus was taught by wise men but was unfulfilled, but later enlightened by the Gospel and converted by a priest Carpophorus.

His father was displeased, attempting to dissuade him, corrupt him, and then forcing him to marry Daria.
