Public Administration Reform Focuses on Efficiency and Meritocracy

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski addressed the Public Administration Reform Council, outlining key changes aimed at improving efficiency and service to citizens. The focus is on eliminating inefficiencies, promoting merit-based employment, and ensuring accountability within the public sector.

The government is committed to eliminating the practice of non-working employees receiving salaries and instead prioritizing a system based on merit. This involves basing employment and promotions on knowledge, skills, and results, not political or personal connections. Transparent selection criteria, testing, and continuous evaluation will be introduced.

Continuous training and development will be provided to officials to keep pace with evolving challenges. This includes training programs, experience exchanges with advanced administrations, and the introduction of international best practices.

The government intends to strengthen ethical awareness and accountability within the administration.

Digitization is a key component of the reform, with investments in digital tools to reduce processing times, eliminate unnecessary steps, and increase efficiency.

Better working conditions, fair salaries, and opportunities for advancement based on merit will be provided to motivate and satisfy officials.
