A security guard for Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski is in custody for allegedly revealing official police secrets from an investigation for 50,000 euros. The Prosecutor’s Office is prosecuting him for Disclosure of Official Secrets.
On March 30, the security guard allegedly met with a witness in a Veles hotel parking lot and displayed official Ministry of Interior documents containing official secrets. The guard permitted the witness to film the documents and explained their content.
The court accepted the Prosecutor’s Office’s request for a 30-day detention. A prison sentence of at least one year is foreseen for this crime.
The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption clarified that the individuals and documents involved are not related to the persons and group from Grcec, contrary to some media reports.
