Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski is set to meet with Arben Taravari today to discuss Taravari’s future in the government. Mickoski expects Taravari to clarify whether he will remain in the current coalition or align with DUI.
Mickoski stated that he believes Taravari faces a clear choice between joining the current government focused on reforms and aligning with forces that have allegedly harmed the state for decades. He emphasized that there is no middle ground.
The Prime Minister expressed his personal respect for Taravari but stressed the importance of integrity in politics. He alluded to past support he provided Taravari, even amidst internal party doubts.
Mickoski dismissed concerns about potential “backstage games,” stating that such maneuvers are easily exposed and often backfire. He affirmed the government’s stability and strong majority, regardless of Taravari’s decision.
The Prime Minister underscored that Taravari and his party must decide whether to continue on a path of reforms and the rule of law with the current government, or to join forces with political entities accused of damaging the country.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in the Government building. This follows accusations that Taravari is negotiating with DUI for the upcoming local elections, after his party chose not to remain within the Vredi coalition. Taravari has indicated plans to contest the elections with his own councilor lists and likely mayoral candidates.
