The National Theater of Bitola is set to premiere “Black Seed” on April 16, a play directed by Andrej Cvetanovski. The play is based on the renowned novel by Tasko Georgievski, with dramatization by Jelena Cvetanovska.
The production delves into the plight of Macedonians from the Aegean region and their battle to safeguard their national identity. The premiere coincides with the 90th anniversary of Georgievski’s birth.
Director Andrej Cvetanovski emphasized the importance of sharing these narratives, stating, “The fate of smaller nations is difficult because their stories are not told. If we don’t tell our stories, no one will.”
The cast includes Martin Mirchevski, Ognen Drangovski, Vasko Mavrovski, Nikola Stefanov, Nikola Projchevski, Petar Gorko, Borche Gjakovski, Aleksandar Stefanovski, Aleksandar Dimitrovski, Aleksandar Kopanja, Marija Cvetanovska, Petar Spirovski, Zivko Borisovski, and Hari Mihajlovski. The scenography is designed by Sergej Svetozarev, the costumes by Blagoj Micevski, the music by Dimitar Andonovski, and the choreography by Damjan Cvetanovski.
