Ten police officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit are under criminal investigation for allegedly abusing their positions and defrauding the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The officers, identified as K.Ѓ., G.D., N.S., I.G., D.D., D.D., N.M., S.S., Z.T., and D.T., are suspected of exploiting travel expense reimbursements for personal gain. Authorities believe they claimed funds for travel between their registered residences outside Skopje and their workplace in Skopje on days when they did not actually travel.

This alleged scheme, spanning from December 1, 2023, to September 17, 2024, resulted in damages of 1,098,120 denars to the Ministry’s budget.

In addition to the criminal complaint, the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards will recommend disciplinary proceedings against the implicated officers.
