A police officer and another individual were arrested in Veles after a coordinated police action revealed the unauthorized possession of official Ministry of Interior materials. The operation, prompted by information regarding a potential “disclosure of official secret,” led to searches of a home, vehicles, and individuals in the SIA Veles area.
During the search of a “BMW” vehicle parked in front of a Veles hotel, police discovered a backpack containing official documents from the Ministry of Interior and seized mobile phones from the occupants, identified as A.S., a police officer from the Department for Protection of Certain Persons and Objects, and B.K., who were subsequently taken into custody.
Further searches at multiple locations resulted in the discovery and seizure of electronic devices, official documents, and other items relevant to the ongoing investigation.
The Department of Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards (DICIPS) determined that the police officer violated Ministry of Interior regulations by unauthorizedly possessing and disclosing official materials to individuals outside the ministry, actions that constitute a criminal offense under Article 360 of the Criminal Code.
On March 31, 2025, the DICIPS will file a criminal complaint against A. S. with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption, charging him with “disclosure of official secret” under Article 360 of the Criminal Code.
