Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski visited the Municipality of Zelenikovo to discuss current challenges and future development plans with Mayor Kosta Manevski and members of the municipal Council. The meeting, held as part of the “Where the Heart is Home” initiative, focused on improving living conditions and infrastructure.

The government will continue to support local self-governments and invest in projects aimed at creating more functional and modern local communities. This support is considered crucial for the successful implementation of infrastructure projects and the ongoing development of all municipalities and regions.

Discussions included a proposal to amend the Law on Local Self-Government. Minister Perinski stated that the amendment would bring significant improvements in the management of all municipalities by increasing accountability and transparency, leading to more efficient citizen services. According to the minister, the changes will strengthen municipalities and enable them to better address challenges, ultimately improving living conditions.

The Municipality of Zelenikovo, comprised of 14 rural settlements in the southern Skopje valley, is particularly focused on improving road infrastructure. The Municipality had three projects approved in the first government call for support of municipal infrastructure projects and applied for seven in the second call.
