Ministry of Interior and Public Prosecutor’s Office Sign Cooperation Protocol

The Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have formalized a new cooperation protocol, demonstrating a strengthened commitment to inter-institutional coordination. The goal is to improve the detection and proof of criminal offenses and their perpetrators, and to ensure the effective implementation of criminal proceedings.

The protocol establishes clear guidelines and rules for police officers and public prosecutors in their work to detect and prosecute criminals, improving the efficiency of criminal prosecution. It is designed to streamline cooperation, provide clarity in complex cases, and strengthen coordination in special investigations.

Minister Toshkovski emphasized that the improved system for combating crime requires continuously improving the rules by which institutions cooperate. He highlighted the protocol as a foundation for trust and cooperation, with a shared goal of successful criminal justice outcomes. Precise rules will enhance institutional efficiency, justice, and the rule of law.

Public Prosecutor Kocevski stressed the operational value of the protocol, calling it an operational plan based on existing laws of criminal procedure that helps the institutions adapt to the challenges of sophisticated forms of crime. Ambassador Wahl, who participated in the Protocol’s creation, believes this step will strengthen the implementation of criminal proceedings and enable a more efficient fight against complex criminal cases, corruption, organized crime, financial crimes, and cybercrime.
