Ministry of Agriculture Appeals for Caution to Prevent Open-Air Fires Due to High Temperatures

Citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution to prevent open-air fires, as announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy. The appeal comes in anticipation of rising temperatures that significantly increase the risk of such incidents.

The Ministry emphasizes the critical need for public awareness regarding the dangers and potential consequences of open-air fires. The public’s responsible behavior is crucial for protecting forests, the environment, property, and communities.

Specifically, individuals working on agricultural land and livestock farmers are advised to be extra vigilant. Uncontrolled burning of agricultural land and pastures is strictly prohibited by law and constitutes a criminal offense.

Open-air fires pose serious risks, including threats to human life, property, and the environment. Furthermore, causing such a fire is a punishable offense.

Rapid detection is key to preventing fires from spreading; the public is urged to immediately contact 112 upon spotting a fire. It is also advised to avoid starting any fires during strong winds or dry weather conditions and to find safer methods for clearing land and removing flammable materials.

The MAFWE encourages citizens to stay informed and proactive in preventing open-air fires. From July 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025, a complete ban on movement in forests will be in effect.

The public is encouraged to follow and participate in the Landscape Fire Management Program (lfmwb.net), where the Ministry actively contributes to prevention and preparedness measures.
