Mayor Goran Gerasimovski of the Municipality of Centar has engaged with residents of the Bunyakovec neighborhood to address local concerns and outline upcoming initiatives. These meetings, part of the “See you in the neighborhood” project, provided a platform for residents to voice their needs and for the mayor to present plans for community development.
A key point of discussion was childcare during the summer months. Mayor Gerasimovski acknowledged the challenges faced by working parents and assured residents that the municipality is committed to providing solutions.
The municipality currently offers childcare services for children in first to third grade (up to 10 years old) at local kindergartens during the summer. There are plans to potentially extend this service to include fourth-grade students as well. Staffing shortages are being addressed, with the municipality seeking approval from the Ministry of Education to ensure adequate support.
Residents expressed satisfaction with the attention given to the educational process, particularly highlighting the “Kiro Gligorov” primary school as a modern and well-equipped institution. Improvements have also been made to the “Kole Nedelkovski” primary school, and investments are planned for “Johan Heinrich Pestalozzi.”
Other concerns raised by residents included the issue of increasing concretization in the urban environment. While acknowledging the presence of new buildings, Mayor Gerasimovski emphasized the municipality’s commitment to investing in greenery. He also pledged to explore the feasibility of constructing a new sports field and improving pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure.
To address parking challenges, the Municipality of Centar is actively working on expanding parking capacities, with plans for new parking lots near Pestalozzi, including an underground-above-ground garage. This initiative aims to free up sidewalks for pedestrians and cyclists.
Another area of focus for the municipality is ensuring adequate placement for young children in kindergartens. Significant investments have been made to reconstruct all branches and kindergartens throughout the municipality, providing improved facilities and qualified staff.
