The Macedonian National Theatre (MNT) production of “12,” an adaptation of “12 Angry Men,” has been awarded Best Play and Best Direction at the IV Theatre Festival “5RE” in Veles. The festival took place on April 15 at the “Jordan Hadzi Konstantinov-Dzinot” theatre.
The play “12” is based on motives from Reginald Rose’s “12 Angry Men”, adapted and directed by Sinisa Evtimov. The jury, composed of Aleksandar Georgiev, Aleksandar Ivanovski, and Mile Vrateovski, unanimously decided to award the play with the two top honors.
The cast of “12” includes Gjorgji Jolevski, Gorast Cvetkovski, Toni Mihajlovski, Nikola Ristanovski, Blagoj Veselinov, Aleksandar Mikikj, Igor Dzambazov, Jordan Simonov, Nino Levi/Senko Velinov, Oliver Mitkovski, Vlado Jovanovski, and Sashko Kocev. The play has been praised for its strong social message and the outstanding performances of its actors, both domestically and internationally. The recent awards provide further recognition for the production.
MNT’s performance at the festival in Veles followed a regional tour, marking the first series of trips for the theatre. Following the festival, MNT will continue with its scheduled program.
