Macedonia and Serbia Negotiate Joint Border Controls

Macedonia and Serbia held talks to finalize an agreement for joint border controls at the Tabanovce-Preševo crossing, aiming to streamline international road traffic.

State Secretary Sasho Petrushevski, heading the Macedonian delegation, highlighted the strong relations between the two countries, emphasizing their good neighborly cooperation and absence of unresolved issues.

Petrushevski thanked Serbia for their support to Macedonian citizens injured in a recent fire. He then stressed the need for efficient border checks to boost economic development, with the goal of creating a “ONE STOP SHOP” to reduce border control times and congestion, particularly during peak travel periods. He also affirmed that security would not be compromised.

The negotiations involved a review of comments from both delegations, leading to the finalization of the agreement’s provisions and paving the way for its signing by the two governments.
