The Levica party has strongly criticized the ongoing pre-investigation and investigation into the tragic event in Kochani, citing what they perceive as obvious selectivity and political motivation. The party believes that the investigation, which concerns a tragic event that resulted in the loss of young lives, has left deep scars on the public.
Levica argues that despite clear indications of serious omissions and deliberate inaction by individuals with operational jurisdiction, particularly within the Ministry of Interior, the investigation is focused solely on former officials and lower-level personnel. They contend that individuals who had a direct responsibility to act at the time of the tragedy are being consciously and intentionally excluded from accountability.
According to Levica, those excluded from responsibility include, but are not limited to, the head of the Police Station in Kochani, the head of the criminal police, the chief inspector for economic crime, the shift supervisor on the night of the incident, and other officials from the SIA Shtip and the Public Security Bureau. The party expresses particular concern over the political connections of some of these individuals to the ruling structures, raising suspicions of conscious concealment and protection.
Levica emphasizes that existing reports against the facility where the tragedy occurred, the absence of institutional reaction, the illegal use of pyrotechnics, and a “raid” conducted without the participation of inspection services all point to a conscious institutional omission with catastrophic consequences. They underscore the fact that there was a legal basis to close the facility, which they say further confirms the serious degree of irresponsibility.
In response, the parliamentary group of Levica has announced that it is preparing an interpellation for the Minister of Interior, Panche Toshkovski, due to serious omissions, concealment of directly responsible persons, and the selective nature of the investigation.
Levica insists on full justice and non-selective responsibility, asserting that everyone who failed to act, remained silent, or consciously concealed information must be held accountable. The party is adamant that the tragedy in Kochani must not go unpunished.
