Levica’s parliamentary group has submitted two draft laws addressing workers’ financial security and family support, scheduled for debate at the upcoming parliamentary session.
The first proposal mandates salary payments by the 5th of each month, aiming to eliminate financial uncertainty for workers and prevent reliance on high-interest loans or overdrafts. Levica argues that workers deserve timely access to their earned wages.
The second draft law seeks to extend maternity leave from 9 to 18 months, with the goal of strengthening the social and economic well-being of mothers and families. Levica emphasizes the importance of a stable start for children and dignified motherhood, free from financial anxieties.
Levica asserts that these proposals, originating from the needs of the people, are common and desirable in other European nations. The party cautions against partisan rejection of these laws by the ruling majority.
Levica concludes that dismissing these proposals solely due to their origin would disregard the interests of workers and families, to whom every member of Parliament is accountable.
