Levica Demands Responsibility and Resignation of Minister Taravari Following Patient Death at Cardiac Surgery Clinic

The Levica party is demanding the resignation of Health Minister Taravari following the death of a patient at the Cardiac Surgery Clinic, citing a lack of coordination and government irresponsibility. The party insists that Minister Taravari must be held accountable for the incident.

Levica claims that Taravari closed the clinic’s only operating room for reconstruction without securing a suitable alternative at private hospitals, despite significant funding allocated to these institutions from the Health Insurance Fund.

According to Levica, this closure and the failure to manage an alternative solution constitute extreme incompetence and irresponsibility, directly resulting in the patient’s death. They highlight the State Health Inspectorate’s report as confirmation of these failings.

The party further alleges that Minister Taravari is either uninformed about the situation in the clinics or deliberately allowing them to deteriorate. They point to the minister’s apparent lack of awareness regarding the shortage of stents in the clinics and his inability to provide an alternative for patients with similar diagnoses.

Levica asserts that the Ministry of Health’s operations are plagued by scandals, incompetent personnel decisions, and questionable tenders. They recall a recent incident where Minister Taravari claimed the availability of medicines for oncology patients, only to be contradicted by the director of the Health Insurance Fund, who cited tender-related delays.

Levica insists that Taravari’s dismissive behavior and failure to adequately address the closure of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic’s operating room must not go unpunished. They urge Prime Minister Mickoski’s government not to shield Taravari’s actions for the sake of coalition stability, emphasizing that such protection comes at the cost of patients’ lives. The party concludes by reiterating its demand for Minister Taravari’s immediate resignation.
