Levica Addresses Allegations of Party Abuses and Worker Exploitation at Macedonian Forests

The Levica party, identifying itself as a representative of disenfranchised workers, has voiced strong concerns regarding alleged mistreatment of employees at PE “Macedonian Forests”. These concerns include party abuses, political pressures, and threats against workers, which Levica says overshadow unresolved issues.

Levica is publicly questioning Kire Mihailov, the Deputy General Director of PE “Macedonian Forests”, a member of DPMNE, about whether his proclaimed fight against the “forest mafia” is a cover for personal and party advancement. Levica states that the situation for workers has not improved but worsened during his nine-month leadership. They allege that blackmail and protection of DPMNE’s interests are occurring.

Levica demands answers to several specific allegations: pressure on employees to withdraw lawsuits for unpaid compensation (K-15) and field allowances for 2023 and 2024, misuse of an official vehicle for party activities, failure to provide essential protective equipment, coercion to join a specific union, allowing companies with pending charges to win tenders, and increasing firewood prices and fees for private forests.

Levica asserts that workers deserve to live and work with dignity, free from fear and political control. The party urges employees facing pressure to contact them so they can respond appropriately, including taking institutional action if needed.
