Levica Accuses Interior Minister’s Father of Disability Pension Bribery

The Levica party has accused the father of the Minister of the Interior of being involved in a bribery scheme related to disability pensions. The party alleges that the minister’s father defrauded multiple individuals by accepting bribes in exchange for mediating disability pensions.

According to Levica, Toshkovski’s father was convicted in 2013 and received a two-year suspended sentence for illegally taking approximately 25,000 euros from individuals with the promise of securing them disability pensions.

Levica claims that the minister’s father exploited vulnerable people who were already struggling against the system. They further allege that Minister Toshkovski’s previous involvement in government during the Gruevski administration facilitated his father’s illicit activities.

The party also criticizes Toshkovski for failing to provide information regarding the arrest of Prime Minister Mickoski’s security detail, specifically regarding the identity of the second person arrested and how Mickoski’s security obtained information about criminal investigations.

Levica cites the tragedy in Kochani, where no current police chief is under investigation, as another example of the government’s poor governance. They claim that the government is rejecting beneficial legal solutions proposed by Levica. Furthermore, they accuse the government of failing to address corruption, pointing to appointments of the Prime Minister’s sister and Toshkovski’s brother-in-law as university professors as examples of nepotism. Levica concludes that there is no real change in the corrupt system due to parties that have been building that very system for 35 years.
