Levica Accuses Anti-Corruption Head of Leaking Secrets and Condemns Political Appointments

Levica is demanding the immediate resignation of the entire State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) and a complete revision of all cases led by the commission, following allegations that its President, Tatjana Dimitrovska, is suspected of revealing official secrets.

The party asserts that the situation exemplifies the “rotten system” in place, where political parties appoint individuals to safeguard their interests rather than genuinely combat corruption. Levica believes that the alleged actions of Dimitrovska demonstrate that the proclaimed “fight against corruption” under the ruling parties VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM is merely a public charade.

According to Levica, Dimitrovska, who was meant to be a leader in fighting corruption, has instead become an accomplice. They emphasize that Dimitrovska’s unanimous election with maximum points by MPs from VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, and DUI highlights the practice of political parties uniting to install party personnel in key positions.

Levica criticizes Dimitrovska’s tenure as head of the Commission, stating that she has not opened any significant cases and has downplayed scandals related to Mickoski’s government. Specifically, they mention the SCPC’s failure to find irregularities in the trip of Mickoski’s son to the NATO summit at state expense and the appointment of Bojan Hristovski as director of ANB despite alleged flaws in his qualifications.

The party also points out that Sofija Spasovska Medarska, the wife of Zoran Zaev’s party lawyer, was elected as a member of the SCPC in 2023 with the unified support of MPs from VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, and DUI. Levica claims the current Anti-Corruption Commission is a product of the “you ours, we yours” model.

Levica firmly believes that genuine justice and the suppression of corruption are impossible as long as political parties appoint individuals to protect their secrets and defend their corrupt practices instead of holding the government accountable.
