The Assembly has approved a law to provide 250 euro vouchers (15,300 denars) for eligible students to purchase electronic devices, specifically laptops, tablets, or personal computers. The measure passed with 84 votes in favor.
The vouchers are intended for students enrolled in undergraduate studies. This initiative aims to support their education by providing them with essential tools for learning.
A total of 850 million denars has been allocated from the state budget to fund the program. This funding is expected to support approximately 55,000 students.
Eligibility for the vouchers extends to regular and part-time undergraduate students who are no older than 29 years of age. Students must also be enrolled in a semester during the 2025/2026 academic year at either a state or private faculty to qualify.
Students enrolled in postgraduate studies, specifically those in the second and third cycles, are not eligible to receive these vouchers.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski initially announced the voucher program in October 2024. He later confirmed in June that the vouchers would be available starting in the next academic year. He also indicated that the necessary procedures had commenced within the government.
