Kostova: Total Debacle of Mickoski in the Economy, Inflation Devouring Family Budgets

The opposition party SDSM is strongly criticizing the economic policies of the current VMRO-DPMNE government, citing recent inflation data and its impact on citizens’ living standards. According to SDSM, the latest figures from the State Statistical Office reveal an inflation rate of 3.3%, which they claim reflects the harsh reality faced by Macedonian families.

SDSM asserts that rising prices are eroding family budgets and hindering economic growth. They argue that claims of strong GDP growth are misleading and do not align with the lived experiences of ordinary citizens. SDSM further contends that the actual GDP growth rate is lower than initially stated by the government.

According to SDSM, Macedonian citizens have the lowest purchasing power in the region, with GDP per capita, adjusted for purchasing power, significantly lagging behind the EU average and even neighboring countries. They highlight the struggles of citizens to make ends meet amid rising costs.

SDSM criticizes the government’s decision to increase salaries for officials while allegedly neglecting the needs of workers. They accuse the Minister of Finance of hypocrisy for suggesting that higher worker salaries would fuel inflation. The party views this stance as disrespectful and demeaning to the workforce.

SDSM is demanding an immediate change in economic policy, urging the government to prioritize measures that protect citizens’ living standards and increase worker salaries. They believe that urgent action is necessary to address the economic challenges facing the country.
