VMRO-DPMNE’s Todor Koneski has strongly criticized the SDMM (Social Democratic Youth of Macedonia), accusing them of aimlessness and engaging in “necrophilia,” mirroring what he describes as their mentors’ shortcomings. Koneski claims that SDMM lacks concrete policies and instead resorts to ad hoc attacks on the government, leading them into a state of deep opposition.
Koneski defended a recent event, stating that all legal parameters and prescribed norms were respected. He emphasized that authorities, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the fire brigade, and the Emergency Medical Service, were informed and present during the event. He clarified that torches used were legally permissible pyrotechnic devices and came with instructions for use.
He questioned SDMM’s silence on past issues such as the Modular Hospital, Oncology scandals, Durmo Tours, and Besa Trans. Koneski also criticized SDMM’s failure to hold their party leaders accountable for unfulfilled promises to young people, including student dormitories, new faculties, jobs, and scholarships. He further questioned the whereabouts of promised projects like Google, Facebook, and a Formula 1 track.
Koneski highlighted current government initiatives for young people, including the reconstruction of student dormitories and schools, support for young farmers and start-up businesses, housing assistance, and a new operational plan for youth employment. He contrasted these initiatives with what he described as SDS’s failures during their time in power.
Koneski urged SDS and SDMM to carefully consider their statements before speaking publicly.
