The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) is questioning the lack of progress in the investigation of the Kochani tragedy nearly a month after it occurred, specifically regarding accountability for the fire at “Puls” and security failures.

Despite announcements, SDSM claims no steps have been taken to broaden the investigation into omissions surrounding the event, or those leading up to it.

The party highlights the absence of proceedings against individuals from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, OVR Kochani, SVR Shtip, or BJB who held responsible positions on the day of the tragedy, March 16. They question why the investigation has not expanded to include current officials who were in office that day, or why they haven’t been questioned.

SDSM insists on a complete, transparent, and non-selective investigation to ensure justice for Kochani, emphasizing that responsibility must be assigned regardless of function or position, and that the matter transcends party lines. They underscore the citizens’ right to know the truth, which must lead to concrete accountability at all levels. The party says that justice for Kochani must be unambiguous, visible, and complete.
