Two individuals are in custody following a violent assault in the village of Oreshani, near Skopje. The suspects, aged 39 and 31, are accused of severely beating a man they suspected of stealing watermelons.
The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje has issued an order for an investigative procedure against the two men, charging them with violence under Article 386 of the Criminal Code.
The incident occurred on July 24 when the suspects allegedly pursued the victim, who was driving from Petrovec towards Taor. Upon reaching his nephew’s house in Oreshani, the suspects attacked him.
The suspects forcibly removed the victim from his vehicle and proceeded to punch and slap him. One of the suspects then used plumbing pliers to beat the man until he lost consciousness.
As a result of the brutal attack, the victim sustained serious bodily injuries and is currently hospitalized in critical condition at the Neurosurgery Clinic.
Prosecutors emphasize that the violent actions instilled fear and insecurity not only in the victim’s nephew, who witnessed the attack, but also among the wider public.
Given the severity of the crime and potential risks, the public prosecutor has requested that the Basic Criminal Court Skopje order detention for both suspects.
