Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski visited the Ohrid Sector for Internal Affairs (SVR) and the “St. Apostle Paul” police station, which includes the Ohrid Airport border crossing. The visit comes as the Ministry of Interior reports a significant increase in passenger traffic at border crossings within the Regional Center – West.

Specifically, the Ohrid Airport border crossing has seen an approximate 20 percent rise in passengers compared to the previous year. The “Blato” border crossing near Debar has experienced an even larger surge, with passenger numbers up by about 30 percent.

Toshkovski emphasized the Ministry’s focus on improving both technical resources and staffing to effectively manage the growing number of travelers. He stated that the goal is to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all tourists visiting Ohrid and the entire country during the upcoming season.

The Minister noted the positive impact of increased tourist exchange and expressed the desire for continued growth in tourism, enabling more visitors to experience the attractions of Ohrid and North Macedonia. He assured that the Ministry of Interior and SVR Ohrid are implementing all necessary measures to create a secure environment for tourists.
