Interior Minister Pledges to Combat Crime Amidst Security Breach Concerns

Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski affirmed his commitment to fighting crime without discrimination, even within the Ministry of Interior, while refraining from clarifying how classified documents ended up with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski’s security guard. Toshkovski stated he would disclose details upon completion of the investigation, following inquiries from journalists after his address at the “Pedestrian Safety – Everyone’s Responsibility” debate.

Toshkovski acknowledged his concern regarding the case, mirroring the sentiments of others within the Ministry of Interior. He emphasized that criminal charges against the Prime Minister’s security guard would be treated the same as those against criminals within the Ministry’s ranks. He noted that the Internal Control Department promptly notified a public prosecutor upon receiving information about the case, leading to immediate investigative actions.

The Prime Minister’s security guard is accused of revealing police secrets from an investigation in exchange for 50,000 euros. On March 30, the suspect allegedly met with a witness in Veles, displaying classified Ministry of Interior documents. The court approved a 30-day detention period for the security guard, as requested by the Prosecutor’s Office.
