Ohrid Port Authority, in cooperation with Lake Police, will intensify inspections due to numerous violations of the Law on Inland Navigation. Yesterday, a joint inspection led by the Port Authority of Ohrid, Lake Police, and the Ohrid Police Station resulted in discovering 22 violations of the Law on Inland Navigation.
The Ministry of Transport announced that the inspections took place between 2 PM and 8 PM. During this time, authorities inspected 13 vessels and 13 individuals.
Furthermore, authorities conducted breathalyzer tests on 16 people. Seven individuals tested positive for alcohol, with two registering blood alcohol levels of 1.17 and 1.07 per mille.
Official documentation regarding the detected violations has been prepared and submitted.
The Port Authority of Ohrid is urging vessel owners to register their vessels promptly and adhere strictly to all rules and regulations to ensure safe navigation on Lake Ohrid.
