The State Statistical Office announced that industrial production decreased by 0.8 percent in February this year compared to February last year. However, there was a 0.2 percent increase in the first two months of this year compared to the same period in 2025.
Examining specific sectors, Mining and Quarrying experienced a 4.4 percent decrease in February 2025 compared to February 2024. Electricity, Gas, Steam, and Air Conditioning Supply also saw a decrease of 7.7 percent. In contrast, the Manufacturing industry saw an increase of 1.7 percent.
The increase in the Manufacturing sector is primarily attributed to increased production in several divisions, including tobacco products, clothing, printing and recorded media, basic pharmaceutical products and preparations, rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products, metals, electrical equipment, and furniture.
In terms of main industrial groupings, February 2025 saw increases compared to February 2024 in Intermediate goods, except energy (11.7 percent), Durable consumer goods (13.2 percent), and Non-durable consumer goods (1.9 percent). Decreases were recorded in Energy (8.3 percent) and Capital goods (12.1 percent).
