The former director of KPU Prison Skopje, Filip Andov – Sokol, along with seven other employees, has been indicted for abuse of official position. The charges were filed by a public prosecutor from the specialized department for prosecuting criminal acts committed by persons with police powers and members of the prison police.
The indictment alleges that between March and July 2024, the defendants enabled illegal benefits for five convicts. These benefits included transporting the convicts to their homes and other locations for private needs, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The procedure initially involved ten people, but charges against two were dismissed due to insufficient evidence. The case, which began in February, revealed that five convicts from the prison in Shuto Orizari were illegally granted temporary release for periods ranging from 8 to 10 hours.
