A 59-year-old man has been indicted by the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje on charges of sexual assault against a minor. The charges fall under Article 186, paragraph 7, in connection with paragraph 2 and paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
The incident occurred on August 24, 2024, in a park located in the Čair neighborhood. The defendant allegedly committed sexual acts against a 15-year-old child.
The defendant is accused of touching the child. The child resisted, grabbing the defendant’s hand and threatening to contact the police.
Following this, the defendant attempted to flee, seeking refuge in the entrance of a nearby building. The child prevented his escape by closing the entrance door and immediately alerting the police, leading to the defendant’s arrest.
To ensure the defendant’s presence throughout the legal proceedings, precautionary measures have been ordered by a pre-trial judge of the Basic Criminal Court Skopje. These measures include a ban on leaving his place of residence, mandatory reporting to the relevant state authority, confiscation of his passport and any other documents used for crossing the state border, and a prohibition on contacting the victim.
