Increased Traffic Controls Result in Over 2200 Traffic Violations During Holiday Period

Police in North Macedonia issued 2252 payment orders for traffic violations during the holiday period, with the majority related to the Law on Road Traffic Safety. The Ministry of Interior announced that traffic controls will continue in the coming days and appealed to citizens to respect traffic rules and regulations.

A significant number of violations were recorded, including 1018 for speeding and 254 for driving without a driver’s license. Authorities also noted 308 instances of improper parking.

Other violations included 105 cases of failure to use a seat belt and 25 motorcyclists riding without a helmet. Furthermore, 46 measures were imposed for using a mobile phone while driving, and 66 drivers were removed from traffic for driving under the influence of alcohol. There were also 21 sanctions imposed for running a red light.

Regarding vehicle-related offenses, 60 vehicles were removed from traffic. Of these, 13 were due to technical defects, and 47 vehicles were impounded due to an invalid traffic permit.
