Increased Capitation Point for Primary Healthcare Announced

A panel discussion was held in Government premises, where the Health Insurance Fund informed about the historical increase of the capitation point in primary healthcare, including general practitioners in general medicine, gynecology, and general dentistry.

According to Director Klekovski, this significant increase in the capitation point covers over 2,000 concluded contracts, including around 200 with general gynecologists. The majority of contracts pertain to general practitioners in general medicine and general dentistry, encompassing over 2,500 general practitioners.

Klekovski stated that the measure aims to address the decline in the number of general practitioners and improve the quality of services in primary healthcare. He noted a decrease of 30 general practitioners in 2024 compared to 2023.

Prof. Dr. Irena Aleksioska-Papestiev emphasized the importance of the investment for greater motivation and engagement of general gynecologists in implementing screening programs for early detection of gynecological diseases. She said that the measure achieves long-term savings for the state by reducing treatment costs at the tertiary level.

Dr. Lilija Cholakova-Dervishova, President of ZPRLM, expressed satisfaction with the increase, emphasizing its importance for doctors in rural areas. She also highlighted the cooperation with the Health Insurance Fund.

Loran Strashevski, a general dentist, stated that the increase will help retain young dentists, reduce the risk of closing dental offices, and enable the modernization of offices.

The director of the Health Insurance Fund of Macedonia, Sasho Klekovski, the president of the Association of Private Doctors of Macedonia (ZPRLM), Lilija Cholakova-Dervishova, Irena Aleksioska-Papestiev, director of the University Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics, as well as Loran Strashevski, a general dentist, attended the discussion.
