A 55-year-old Greek citizen, N.M., was apprehended by police on a parking lot near the Border Crossing Bogorodica at 00:10 today. He was caught transferring a significant quantity of cigarettes into an Audi A6 with German license plates.

The vehicle’s license plates were discovered to be invalid and registered to a different vehicle. Authorities found 276 cartons of various cigarette brands and 20 packages of undocumented tobacco inside the car.

Prior to the arrest, collaborative operational efforts with the Customs Administration had identified the vehicle’s use in excise goods smuggling.

The suspect was taken to the Gevgelija Police Station, and the vehicle and contraband were confiscated.

A public prosecutor has been informed about the incident. Upon full documentation of the case, a report will be filed against N.M. for document forgery (Article 378) and smuggling (Article 278) under the Criminal Code.
