Gerasimovski: Solidarity is not a campaign, but a way of life

The Mayor of the Municipality of Centar, Goran Gerasimovski, stated that solidarity should be an everyday practice, not just a reaction to tragedies. He made this comment at the forum “They Recognize Us by Solidarity,” organized by the Association for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights “People Over Profit.” The forum coincided with the European Week of Solidarity.

Gerasimovski highlighted the Municipality of Centar’s ongoing commitment to providing aid where it is most needed. He emphasized the municipality’s investment in projects aimed at strengthening mutual support and fostering a humane community.

These initiatives include financial assistance for families with newborns, free kindergarten access for children of single parents and children from the Roma community, and support for socially disadvantaged families, pensioners, and citizens with serious illnesses.

According to Gerasimovski, projects like “Emergency Button” and “Centar Cares for Adults” specifically target vulnerable seniors who are alone and frail. He stressed that solidarity is not a temporary campaign but an integral way of life.

This year, the municipality announced a public call for financial support of projects offering social services to vulnerable citizens. In addition to these projects, the municipality regularly organizes humanitarian events to raise funds for those in need.

As part of the European Week of Solidarity, the Municipality of Centar is collaborating with the Red Cross to organize a donation drive through kindergartens, involving parents in collecting resources for socially disadvantaged families.
