The Municipality of Gazi Baba held its first thematic event “Gazi Baba for Sports” last night, showcasing sports-related accomplishments from 2021-2025 under Mayor Boban Stefkovski’s leadership.
Mayor Stefkovski emphasized completed and upcoming projects, stating that sports have been revitalized across Gazi Baba over the past three years through unprecedented investments in sports infrastructure.
These investments include the construction of 27 modern tartan-surfaced sports fields, with eight more planned, and five artificial turf fields, with three more on the way.
Additionally, Gazi Baba has its first six fitness zones, with plans for three more. New school gyms in Bulachani and Stajkovci have been built, and construction is underway for a new hall in Creshevo, enhancing physical education opportunities.
Two new sports complexes in Stajkovci and Hippodrome offer diverse sports facilities. Mayor Stefkovski also highlighted the Municipality’s financial support of 40 million denars to local sports clubs and individual athletes over the past four years.
Stefkovski emphasized the unity of Gazi Baba’s sports community, stating that clubs and athletes from all sports categories, coaches, students, and teachers are part of a winning team that celebrates victories and supports each other.
At the event, athletes Milijana Relic, Aleksandar Ilievski, Marko Stojkovic, Teodor Nikolovski, Andrej Mitrevski, and Maxim Mitrovski received plaques for outstanding achievements. Recognition plaques were also awarded to leaders of the handball, taekwondo, and athletic federations of Macedonia, and to Kiril Lazarov, the coach of the national handball team, for their successful collaboration.
The event included representatives from sports clubs, athletes, members of Parliament, members of the Municipal Council, and other citizens.
