Expected Investments from the United Arab Emirates in North Macedonia

North Macedonia anticipates significant investments from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in key sectors, including tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, and real estate. These expectations follow a series of agreements designed to foster economic cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski, currently on a working visit to the UAE, highlighted the importance of these agreements as a foundation for future collaboration. The signed agreements cover economic cooperation, education and culture, investor protection, and the avoidance of double taxation.

Nikoloski emphasized Dubai’s growing role as a trade hub for exports to the East, presenting a valuable opportunity for Macedonian exporting companies. He noted that the UAE government offers assistance and logistics that can help domestic companies access new markets.

During meetings with chambers of commerce in Sharjah and Dubai, significant interest was expressed in collaborating with North Macedonia in several fields. Tourism emerged as a primary area of focus, with Macedonia’s potential being widely recognized. Infrastructure projects, particularly those related to Corridors 10, 8, and 10D, also garnered attention as potential investment opportunities, along with agriculture and real estate.

Nikoloski expressed optimism that the relationship will advance to a stage of concrete projects in the near future. He anticipates a delegation from the UAE visiting North Macedonia soon, paving the way for investments in the country.
