Customs teams are intensifying patrols on Lake Ohrid to combat smuggling and ensure the proper collection of import duties.
The Customs Administration announced the implementation of enhanced vessel patrol controls in the waters of Lake Ohrid. According to Vlatko Lakordov, the Assistant Director for Control and Investigations, the initiative aims to monitor suspicious activities. Checks are being conducted whenever any type of activities cause any kind of suspicion, with the goal of promptly detecting and preventing criminal attempts.
The increased control of vessels is designed to deter smuggling attempts. This measure is also intended to ensure the effective and accurate collection of import duties owed to the country.
